NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – A cool front is coming through across the Land of Enchantment but in combination with dry air behind the front and a high-pressure system in the Four Corners, skies are starting off mostly clear from clouds. Winds are picking up along the front with gusts above 30-40 mph already as out in front of the frontal boundary, temperatures are very mild with pockets of 60s, as well as even 70s, while cooler air is bleeding into the mountains, as well as to The Northeast Highlands especially, with temperatures dropping into the 50s, 40s, and 30s. Forecast Continues Below News: ABQ Ride installs new tech showing ridership is up 25% since last July Trending: Andean bear settles into new habitat at the ABQ BioPark Update: New Sunport food vendor area delayed due to construction setbacks Above-normal temperatures will continue, but it won't be as warm of a day, as from the morning school commute on into the afternoon, temperatures will eventually reach into the high 60s, 70s, 80s, and low 90s. With just a little bit of moisture trapped beneath the high pressure, showers will be forming for the western mountain ranges today where the front will eventually arrive, while nearly everywhere else will be mostly sunny. As the high pressure continues to the northwest ahead, very clear skies with relatively chilly mornings and very warm afternoons will continue all the way through Balloon Fiesta Weekend.
