(COLORADO) — Black Hills Energy announced that natural gas costs on customer bills will decrease starting Oct. 1 and will be reflected in fourth-quarter bills. The annual Gas Cost Adjustment (GCA) is filed with the Colorado Public Utilities Commission to reflect recent and projected natural gas costs. This filing accounts for changes across all three rate areas in Colorado. Depending on location, customers could see monthly bills decrease up to 30%. The natural gas price is a "pass-through cost," meaning Black Hills Energy does not profit from it; customers pay market rates. Below is a table showing how the lower GCA will impact average residential bills, pending approval by the Colorado Public Utilities Commission. Courtesy: Black Hills Corp. Lower gas costs add to the value of natural gas. For customers facing financial challenges, Black Hills Energy offers several assistance programs, including extended payment plans, budget billing, and payment assistance.
