(WGHP) — There is an area the National Hurricane Center (NHC) is monitoring in the southern Caribbean, which has a 10% chance of formation within the next 48 hours. Farther east, the NHC issued the last advisory for Joyce, which was weakened.  Tropical Storm Kirk is forecast to be a hurricane later today, and a major hurricane by Thursday.  It will remain over the central Atlantic, posing no threat to any land.  A low off the coast of Africa, just south of the Cape Verde Islands, will continue to be monitored for development.  It has a 60% chance of formation over the next 48 hours. Local Forecast We will have persistent clouds today with a slim, 20% chance of showers.  Highs are going to be very near normal, in the mid-70s.  Shower chances increase toward evening to 40%, but total rainfall will stay below 1/4". Lows tonight are going to be in the mid-60s. A cold front is going to fizzle out before crossing the NC/TN line tomorrow, so partly cloudy skies will take over Wednesday and Thursday.  A second, fast-moving front will barrel across the mountains Friday night, so expect more clouds in the forecast.  Rain chances will stay low, at 20%, through Friday.  Temperatures remain steady through the end of the work week, in the upper-70's. The second front coming in will bring beautiful weather to the state this weekend and the beginning of the new work week.  We'll have mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies as high pressure builds across the East Coast.  Temperatures are going to top out near 80° Saturday, then gradually slide back to the mid- to upper-70s Sunday and Monday.
