AVON, N.Y. (WROC) — Avon's Kalman Dolgos not only helped his team overcome one of the top teams in the state this week, but has also a whole bunch of adversity. The River Hawks took on Alexander on Friday, with both teams undefeated and ranked top five in the latest NYSSWA Class D rankings. Dolgos had a phenomenal performance, racking up six total touchdowns. The junior quarterback ran the ball 19 times for 158 yards and five touchdowns. His longest touchdown came from 7[7 yards out. He also completed 9 of 13 attempts for 165 yards, throwing for a 67-yard touchdown. Dolgos is also a starter on defense and is the long-snapper on special teams. Dolgos started the year as a wide receiver but was thrust into the QB role when their starter suffered a season-ending injury against Oakfield-Alabama/Elba. Dolgos entered in relief and had five rushing touchdowns. On the season, Dolgos had 482 rushing yards and 13 total touchdowns. The River Hawks have not missed a beat and are 4-0 on the season and our Player of the Week is a big reason why.
