FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A bicyclist was transported to the hospital with major injuries after being hit by a vehicle in Fresno Monday evening, according to the Fresno Police Department. According to officers, the man was riding westbound on Shaw Avenue and approaching Sixth Street around 7 p.m. when he was struck by the vehicle. Police say the bicyclist appeared to have entered the roadway for unknown reasons. The man who police say appears to be in his mid-60s, was transported to the hospital with major injuries. An update on his status will be provided as it becomes available. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is being cooperative, according to police. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash. This is an ongoing investigation.
