(KRON) -- Last week was a sad day for Oakland as its last remaining major pro sports team played its final game in the city. One prominent native of the city shared the sentiment of the thousands of A's fans that packed the sold-out Coliseum one last time on Sept. 26. Oakland-born Vice President Kamala Harris spoke about the MLB team's departure for the first time during a Monday interview with former Warriors Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson on their "ALL THE SMOKE" podcast. Kamala Harris spent her early life, career in the Bay Area: Here’s where "Oh, it breaks my heart," Harris told the now-retired NBA players. "We used to have all of them. You just drive by that area. When I go to Oakland, when I go to the Bay Area, Oakland Airport and just past the Coliseum, it breaks my heart. (All those were) good, good teams." Harris has deep roots and attachments to Oakland and the greater East Bay. She was born in Oakland in 1964, four years before the A's moved to the city. The Democratic presidential candidate attended elementary school in Berkeley while living in a home on Bancroft Way. Early in her career, Harris worked for the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Top 8 memorable A’s moments at Oakland Coliseum The A's are the latest team to leave the Coliseum Complex. The Warriors left Oakland for San Francisco in 2019, and the Raiders also held their last season in the East Bay that same year. Despite the Warriors now calling the much newer Chase Center home, Harris agreed with Barnes that nothing will be like Oracle Arena. "I'm always going to think the Golden State Warriors is Oakland," Harris said. Harris was also asked about what she remembered from the 2007 "We Believe" Warriors team, which Jackson and Barnes were a part of. She called that playoff run a "special time" in the franchise's history -- even attending games in person while she was the San Francisco District Attorney at the time. "It was electric," Harris recalled. "We would take BART to get there. This is the thing I love about sports. It really was about bringing all kinds of people from around the Bay Area."
