WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) - A train fatally hit two pedestrians on Sunday evening in Liberal. It happened just after 8 p.m. at the Western Avenue crossing, north of U.S. Highway 54 or Pancake Boulevard. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a man pushing a woman in a wheelchair attempted to cross the railroad crossing while the crossing arms were down and the signal lights were active. Both were struck by hit by the train and later pronounced dead. 1 killed in crash northwest of Wichita KHP later identified the two pedestrians as 61-year-old Adam Flores and 42-year-old Deanna Flores. Both are from Bangor, Maine. The engineer and the conductor of the train were uninjured.
