GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) - September 15 through October 15 is Hispanic Heritage Month, and an integral and delicious part of a culture is food. On Green Bay's west side, La Cabañita has roots thousands of miles away. Karen Cendejas's dad is the owner of La Cabañita. "The name of this restaurant actually was inspired by his first restaurant in Mexico," Cendejas said. A sister location of a restaurant across town, La Cabañita, or 'The Little Cabin,' has been open for almost a year now. "It was a dream of his to open up a restaurant in the U.S., so we worked hard to come here, and move all of our lives to the U.S. and make that dream happen." Cendejas said it's more of a take-out style menu. She said what they are known for is ramen birria. "So, it's like the birria, it's just the noodles cooked with the broth that comes from the beef." La Cabañita can be found on Military Avenue in Green Bay.
