GONZALES, La. (BRPROUD) - The Walk On’s on Airline Highway in Gonzales will be hosting a popular event on Oct. 1, the annual Live Like Allie Giveback Event, which will be donating 10% of all sales. The fundraising event will honor Allie Rice, an LSU student who was shot and killed while sitting in her car on Government Street in Baton Rouge. Two years later, there aren't any updates on the case said Allie's father, Paul Rice.  “The thing that probably hurts the most is somebody out there knows, and they're not coming forward. They're being protected by family, friends, whoever,” he said. “And it's just frustrating. This could have been a closed case a long time ago.”  Despite no answers to the case, Paul said events like the giveback event are some things that keep him going, especially because it helps fund the ‘Live Like Allie foundation’, which aims to fight gun violence in the capital city.   “We have donated for some cameras around the Baton Rouge area through one of the other foundations in the area,” he said. “We want to make sure that we're doing whatever we can, whether it's through manpower or whether it's through money, through whatever, to be a part of the solution to help the youth not go down this trail.”  Paul Rice said the foundation keeps growing, and this year it’s even funding a scholarship for high school students. “The main thing we're looking to get off the ground right now is a scholarship fund. And this will be the initial fundraiser for the scholarship that we hope to be handing out in this coming May,” he said.  LSP: Mississippi man accused of traveling to Baton Rouge for sex with teen arrested Now he just encourages the community to come out and support. “Plenty of opportunities to enjoy a good meal as well as support a good cause.
