AUSTIN (KXAN) -- One person is dead in a north Austin homicide that happened Monday night, Austin Police Officer Leah Ratliff said during a media briefing. Around 8:20 p.m., multiple 911 calls were received in reference to a shoot/stab hotshot call in the 9100 block of Northgate Boulevard. Callers said they heard shots in the area, and a few callers also said someone was shot, Ratliff said. Officers arrived on the scene at approximately 8:23 p.m. and found a victim with "obvious signs of trauma," Ratliff said. APD officers, EMS and the Austin Fire Department attempted life-saving measures. However, the victim was pronounced dead at 9:01 p.m., according to police. Detectives with the APD Homicide Unit are actively conducting an investigation, and no suspect information is being released at this specific time, Ratliff said. There is no known threat to the public at this time. This is now being investigated as Austin's 48th homicide, according to police.
