FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) -- Veterans and military families will be able to adopt cats and dogs for free at the Homeward Trails Animal Rescue in Fairfax County during October in celebration of National Adopt a Dog Month. The PenPed Foundation is teaming up with the animal rescue to encourage adopters to save a cat or a dog. Raising Cane’s heading to Seven Corners Shopping Center in Falls Church The foundation will generously pay for cat and dog adoption fees for approved veterans and military families, and Homeward Trails will gift a free "Welcome Home Package" filled with toys, food, a crate, a doggy day care discount and a free first exam with certain vets.
