FREDERICK, Md. (DC News Now) -- Getting voters to the polls for the November election is the motivation behind a $75,000 donation to Maryland's Asian-American Community Center from the Democratic National Committee. The money is specifically being earmarked to support the state Democratic Party's mailing program to engage the Asian-American community in the political process. Control of US Senate next year could be up to Maryland Elizabeth Chung is executive director of the Asian American Community Center in Frederick. She encouraged eligible voters to exercise their civic duty in the voting booth, regardless of political leanings. "The voices of voters are so important," she said. "We have been engaging our community in this process [to] being educated, being informed so they can make their own decisions." The funding from the committee is part of a $2.5 million investment from the party to help state parties get their voters to the polls.
