TOPEKA (KSNT) - Police in Topeka recently completed a joint operation with state law enforcement organizations that resulted in multiple arrests. Rosie Nichols with the City of Topeka said in a press release that officers with the Topeka Police Department (TPD), Shawnee County Sheriff's Office (SSO), Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) and Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) recently completed a court compliance operation targeting registered offenders. This two-day effort resulted in nearly 400 "knock-and-talks" and five warrant arrests. “I’m proud of the teamwork between our local and state law enforcement partners to ensure the offenders in our community remain compliant,” Interim Chief Jamey Haltom said. “TPD is committed to keeping our community safe, and we appreciate the shared dedication from these agencies.” Police focused on both violent and sex offenders to ensure compliance with their registration. The total results included the following: 380 knock-and-talks completed. 212 offenders found compliant. 56 offenders found non-compliant. 128 residences marked for follow-up due to no contact.
