Citizens’ Climate Lobby is hosting a candidate forum on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 6-7:30 p.m. at the Jim Santy Auditorium, 1255 Park Ave., to help voters understand the candidates’ stances on key climate issues impacting Summit County.The event will feature candidates for Summit County Council and the Utah State House, discussing topics such as traffic reduction, affordable housing, building energy efficiency, waste management and water resource management.“Local action is crucial in addressing climate change,” said Tracy Harden, co-leader of the Wasatch Back Chapter of Citizens’ Climate Lobby. “Reducing methane emissions from our landfill and addressing traffic congestion are just two examples of local initiatives that can make a significant difference.”Chris Cherniak, of KPCW’s This Green Earth and a member of the Park City High School Green Team, will moderate the forum. Attendees will be able to ask questions following the candidate panel.Participating candidates:Summit County Council Seat C: Megan McKenna (Democrat) and Ari Ioannides (Republican) Summit County Council Seat A: Roger Armstrong (Democrat) and Tory Welch (Republican) Utah House of Representatives District 4: Kris Campbell (Democrat) who is running against incumbent Kera Birkeland (Republican) Utah House of Representatives District 59: Julie Monahan (Democrat) who is running against incumbent Mike Kohler (Republican)The forum is a collaboration between Citizens’ Climate Lobby, KPCW and the Park City Community Foundation’s Climate Fund. It is free and open to the public.
