KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Royals could be getting one of their best players back just in time for the playoffs. First baseman Vinnie Pasquantino has missed the last month after breaking his thumb against the Houston Astros on Aug. 29. Royals play-by-play commentator Ryan Lefebvre said there was a "strong possibility" Pasquantino would be in the lineup during the postseason. Manager Matt Quatraro also said there was a chance Pasquantino could play in their first Wild Card game on Tuesday. He also participated in batting practice and bullpen sessions within the past week. Additionally, Pasquantino was quoted saying, "In my mind, my season's not over," just after the injury. Pasquantino finished the regular season third on the team with 19 home runs, 97 RBIs and a .262 batting average.
