FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Stuffed in shoeboxes and paper bags in the trunk of a car, police found marijuana that a man admitted he would buy in Michigan and sell to Hoosiers for three times the amount he paid. Kevin Lamb, 33, now faces a Level 5 felony count of dealing marijuana. According to Allen Superior Court documents filed Monday, an officer with the Fort Wayne Police Department was on patrol Saturday near South Anthony Boulevard and East Pettit Avenue when a car passed by. After running the plate, the officer discovered the registered owner was Lamb, who had an active local warrant for his arrest and whose license had already been suspended, according to court documents. The officer pulled the car over and could smell the "strong odor" of marijuana as he approached the driver's side door. Lamb admitted there was "a lot" of marijuana in the car when the officer asked about it, according to court documents. The officer wrote in court documents that when he searched the car, he found a backpack with two large plastic bags of marijuana and Lamb's ID card underneath. He also found a scale with green residue along with numerous other plastic baggies yet to be filled. Police also found a Glock with an extended loaded magazine, according to court documents. And in the trunk, the officer said he found three shoeboxes, a cardboard box and paper bags filled with even more marijuana -- totaling 11.4 lbs, according to court documents. In an interview with a detective, Lamb admitted he would go to Michigan to buy $1,000 worth of marijuana and then sell it in Indiana for $3,000. According to court documents, Lamb told police he needed the money for his family. Lamb has an initial hearing in court scheduled for Oct. 1.
