UPDATE - Sept. 30, 4 p.m.KRIS 6 News has discovered new details in the events after fatal shooting on Devon Drive on Friday, Sept. 27 that left a 24-year old man dead.CCPD apprehended the suspect, 20-year-old Saniel Sanchez, that Friday night at the La Armada Apartments.According to court documents, a witness told police that after the shooting, Sanchez came to their house, asked to borrow their phone and called a woman for a ride.That woman called an Uber for Sanchez.A few moments later, CCPD officers used social media to track down the woman who lived at La Armada, where they found Sanchez and arrested him.Sanchez was out on parole after serving time for breaking into several vehicles and stealing a gun in Wharton County.UPDATE - Sept. 29, 10:30 a.m.A warrant for murder has been procured for a suspect who allegedly took part in Friday night's fatal shooting on Devon Street. According to the CCPD Blotter, on Saturday, Sept. 28 around 3:15 p.m., detectives secured a murder warrant, with a bond set for $1,000,000 for 20-year-old Saniel Sanchez Jr. CCPD has not stated at this time how Saniel was connected to the crime, but that the murder warrant was served at Nueces County Jail, where Saniel was being held without bond for alleged parole violations.ORIGINAL - Sept. 27, 7:24 p.m.A fatal shooting that took place in one of Corpus Christi's Bay Area neighborhoods has claimed the life of a young man. On Friday, Sept. 27, Corpus Christi Police officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of Devon Drive around 4:19 p.m. about a shooting with injuries. When officers and medical personnel arrived at the scene, they found the gunshot victim, a 24-year-old man who had died from his injuries. According to CCPD's Public Information Officer Jennifer Collier, a disturbance occurred between the victim and another male where at some point a gun was produced and used to shoot the victim. No arrests have been made at this time. CCPD detectives with the Robbery/Homicide unit have begun investigating. They do not believe this is a random act of violence and there is no immediate threat to the community.This is an active investigation.
