(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A former Colorado Springs man was sentenced to 14 years in prison after the 2020 sexual assault of a child at a home on Fort Carson. 32-year-old Mitchel Crow was sentenced to 168 months in prison and 12 years supervised release after being found guilty in July by a federal jury on three counts of sexual abuse of a minor. PREVIOUS COVERAGE: Man found guilty of three counts of sex abuse on a minor According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, the assaults took place between May and December of 2020. The Attorney's Office said Crow engaged in several sexual acts with a minor in a home located on Fort Carson. Crow was a civilian living on post and was responsible for the care of the minor at the time. "Child sex offenders prey on the most vulnerable victims. This sentence will not erase the harm inflicted upon the victim, but we hope it is a step towards recovery," said FBI Denver Special Agent in Charge Mark Michalek.  "The FBI and our law enforcement partners such as U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division will continue to work together to put predators who harm children in prison."
