BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The Kern River Conservancy has received an $8,000 grant from Kern Community Foundation to help local residents prepare for potential flooding in areas impacted by the Borel Fire. The funding will allow the conservancy to collaborate with local officials and community members to identify high-risk areas and provide crucial supplies, including sandbags and wildland tools, to protect homes and property from rain runoff and flooding in burn-scarred regions. The grant was made available through the Disaster Relief, Recovery, and Resilience Fund, part of the League of California Community Foundations through the Kern Community Foundation. This initiative is part of a broader $41,650 investment by the foundation and its partner to support recovery and relief efforts for those affected by the Borel Fire.
