AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department is seeking the public's help to find a 24-year-old man accused of committing theft and forgery in multiple cases over the course of nearly the last two years, the agency said in a news release Monday. Police said those cases happened between September 2022 to June 2024. Juan Antonio Vazquez Jr. is "suspected of scamming individuals through online property rentals," police said in the release. He is accused of advertising rental property he does not own, takes cash for deposits and rent and when it is time for the new tenant to move in, "they realize they have no rights to the property," according to police. Anyone with any information on the case can submit an anonymous tip via the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program on its website or by calling 512-472-8477. Police said a reward of up to $1,000 may be available if any information provided leads to an arrest.
