It's safe to say that this soggy pattern is getting old for many of us out there. After a brief glimpse at some sunshine and drier conditions on Saturday, Helene's remnants have spun back our way, kicking up showers and plenty of clouds that have continued through this morning. Most of the rain has been light enough that it's just an annoyance for most of the DMV, except for the Blue Ridge Mountains and along the Shenandoah River. Heavier rain (1-3") has fallen in these locations, and additional pockets of heavier rain will be possible through tonight. A Flood Watch is in effect until 11 PM for this threat, and additional Flood Watches extend up the Shenandoah River into WV, where water levels are expected to hit flood stage over the next few days. Cloudy, damp, and cool conditions will continue into tomorrow as the remnant low moves toward the coast. Scattered showers will be around to begin the first day of October, but by the afternoon, most of this activity will be winding down. Cloudy skies will remain Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, but we will finally start to dry out. A cold front will sweep across the area and finally break up the clouds, giving us beautiful conditions to end the week. Sunny skies are on tap on Thursday, with high temperatures reaching the upper 70s. Another cold front will sweep through on Friday, turning skies partly cloudy but not bringing much of a threat for rain. Behind this front, we will likely get a true burst of crisp air from the north in time for the weekend. High temperatures won't change much, dropping from the upper 70s on Friday to the lower 70s on Saturday. Overnight lows will drop significantly though, going from the 60s Friday night to the upper 40s and lower 50s for Saturday and Sunday nights. Fall campfire season might get an early start with temperatures like that! Stay dry the best you can, and have a great rest of your Monday! 7-Day Forecast: Today: Cloudy with scattered showers, heavier rain will fall near the Blue Ridge Mountains.
