Police arrest 14yearold after shooting in Northeast DC

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- Police have arrested a 14-year-old boy in connection to a shooting that happened in Northeast on Sunday, Sept. 22.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), around 1:20 p.m., officers responded to the 1600 block of Benning Road for the report of a shooting.
Once on scene, they found a teenage boy suffering from a gunshot wound. Responders took him to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
MPD investigates homicide of 1-year-old girl in Northwest DC
An investigation revealed that two people were involved in an altercation with the boy inside an establishment. One of the suspects shot the boy as he tried to flee, according to MPD.
On Monday, Sept. 30, authorities arrested the 14-year-old in connection with the shooting, charging them with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun).
The investigation is ongoing.
