MERCED, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - A man died on Saturday after driving his truck into a power pole according to CHP. CHP says they received at 6:28 p.m. a truck crashed into a power pole on Franklin Road and Highway 140. Upon arriving at the scene, officials say they found the 1993 Chevy Silverado driven by a 23-year-old from Gilroy. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene, the speed of the vehicle is unknown says officials. Alcohol does appear to be a contributing factor. Any witnesses who have information can contact Merced CHP, according to CHP.
