SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- The San Francisco Giants have parted ways with President of Baseball Operations Farhan Zaidi and named Buster Posey as his replacement. Zaidi had been with the Giants for six years but was let go in part due to the team's disappointing results, according to a statement posted to X. "We appreciate Farhan's commitment to the organization and his passion for making an impact in our community during his six years with the Giants," team Chairman Greg Johnson wrote on X. "Ultimately, the results have not been what we had hoped, and while that responsibility is shared by all of us, we have decided that a change is necessary." Oasis adds US, Canada and Mexico stops to reunion tour "While these decisions are not easy," Johnson continued, "we believe that it is time for new leadership to elevate our team so we can consistently contend for championships. I wish Farhan and his family nothing but the best moving forward." Team legend Posey will take over the role going forward. "As we look ahead, I'm excited to share that Buster Posey will now take on a greater role as the new President of Baseball Operations," Johnson said. "We are looking for someone who can define, direct and lead this franchise's baseball philosophy and we feel that Buster in the perfect fit." During the six seasons Zaidi was in charge, the Giants missed the playoffs five times.
