TOPEKA (KSNT) - Verizon users nationwide have lost access to phone services Monday in an apparent outage. Thousands of reports are being made to Downdetector starting at around 9 a.m. on Sept. 30 regarding a large Verizon service outage. The number of outages is increasing with more than 100,000 being reported around 10:30 a.m. Users making reports to Downdetector regarding the apparent Verizon outage are saying they are experiencing "no signal" or a "total blackout." Most of these reports are coming in from mobile phone users. Comet on 81,000-year trip becomes a new light in the night sky Downdetector's map shows outages are being reported along the east and west coasts with larger outages appearing in Kansas, Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, New York, Pennsylvania and South Carolina. A Verizon spokeswoman told 27 News the company is aware of problems impacting service for some of its customers. She said Verizon's engineers are working to identify the issue and fix it.
