NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department is making strides to get out in the community and meet the people they serve. They're doing so with an event on Wednesday, Oct.2 called "Coffee with a Cop". It gives the public an opportunity to meet the community and gives officers a chance to answer questions they may have. Best fried chicken sandwich in the USA? Already #1 in Louisiana At a time when the number of NOPD officers is low, officials say they will take advantage of this opportunity to recruit more officers. "Always an opportunity for recruitment," said Sergeant Shannon Brewer with the NOPD. "We want our officers to go out in the community, talk about law enforcement, talk about the New Orleans Police Department. It's a great place to work, so we want the community to always be able to see us and this is an excellent recruitment opportunity for us."
