City police are investigating a suspicious death after a 23-year-old Manchester resident fell from a downtown parking garage.That’s according to the New Haven Police Department (NHPD) account on X, where the department posts press releases. Police responded to the Crown Street Garage, located at 213 Crown St., at 1:50 a.m. Sunday after reports that someone fell from the garage. The fire department was already on scene for a separate incident and ​“immediately attempted life-saving measures.” The victim was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital at 20 York St. and later pronounced dead. Detectives are working to find out what happened, and police ask that anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have valuable information to call detectives at 203 – 946-6304 or through the anonymous tip line at 866 – 888-8477.Also this weekend, over the span of late Friday night into early Saturday morning, police responded to three separate incidents. Two were robberies: first, police reported to a parking lot in the area of Ferry Street and Grand Avenue at 3:19 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28. The victim, who hadn’t sustained injuries, pointed to a vehicle leaving the lot, which continued to flee even after officers attempted a stop. With the use of Stop Sticks, police stopped the car in the area of Rosette and Arthur streets, where ​“multiple juveniles” then fled on foot. Four were apprehended and charged.The second robbery occurred at 4 a.m. on Saturday at the Mobil gas station at 200 Sargent Dr. The clerk gave the cash from the register to the suspect, who was armed with a shotgun and then fled in a stolen black Kia Sportage. Police still haven’t found the suspect, who was last seen wearing a red hoodie, black pants, a black mask, white shoes, and green gloves. Police are also asking that anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have valuable information to call detectives at 203 – 946-6304 or through the anonymous tip line at 866 – 888-8477.The third incident was an assault that took place on Friday, Sept. 27. At 10:18 p.m., police were dispatched to L and A Deli, 351 Whalley Ave., where they met a ​“victim” who would then be arrested by police. The man said he’d been struck by a bottle and was being treated for injuries; ​“a knife with apparent blood on it” was located in one of his socks. Around the same time, police responded to a walk-in stabbing victim at St. Raphael’s campus of Yale New Haven Hospital. The stabbing victim said that he had been stabbed by the man who had been hit by the bottle, and that the stabbing victim used the bottle as a defense after a fight had ensued. The bottle victim fled after stabbing him and taking items belonging to him. The injuries were not life-threatening. The man hit by the bottle was charged with Assault in the 2nd degree and Larceny in the 3rd degree, and is being held on a $50,000 bond.
