BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) -- The tropics are still very busy. As of this time, there are no immediate concerns for Louisiana, but we are watching the Caribbean. A broad area of low pressure in the western Caribbean is producing shower and thunderstorm activity. A tropical depression could form around the middle to the latter half of this week. It's still too early to say where a potential system could form or where its track would be since there is no defined center of circulation yet. Models have been back and forth on intensity and track because of this reason. The good news is development chances are now lower. The zero percent chance for tropical development over the next two days remains the same. The National Hurricane Center has lowered the development chance from 50 percent to 40 percent over the next seven days. This is something we want to hear, but don't let your guard down yet. Always remain alert and stay weather-aware throughout hurricane season. The season ends on Nov. 30. Tropical Storm Isaac is now a post-tropical Cyclone. Isaac will remain in the North Atlantic until it dies out. Joyce is a tropical depression in the central Atlantic Ocean and will remain in the Atlantic. Tropical Depression Twelve is now Tropical Storm Kirk. Kirk has maximum sustained wind speeds of 45 mph and is moving to the northwest at 8 mph. Kirk poses no threat to the U.S. It will likely remain in the Atlantic until it fizzles out. A tropical wave located in the eastern Atlantic is producing limited shower and thunderstorm activity. It’s located a few hundred miles SSE of the Cabo Verde Islands. It has low chances of development over the next two days and medium chances of development over the next seven days.
