A man died over the weekend, three days after he was wounded in a double shooting in Greater Grand Crossing on the South Side. Around 2 p.m. Wednesday, Chariffe Muhammad, 20, and a 26-year-old man were in the 7800 block of South Maryland Avenue when two silver vehicles began firing at each other, striking the two, according to a police report obtained by the Chicago Sun-Times and the Cook County medical examiner's office.Muhammad, of the Far South Side, was shot in his head and taken to Trinity Hospital before being transferred to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition, police said. Muhammad, whose last name was listed as Walker by the medical examiner's office, was pronounced dead at the hospital Saturday at 1:44 p.m., according to officials.The older man called his girlfriend saying he was shot and she took him to the University of Chicago where he was in good condition, police said. No one was in custody and Area Two detectives are investigating.
