ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – The spirit of Pittsford was "positively pink" Sunday, as the community walked together in an effort to raise money for breast cancer survivors and those still fighting the deadly disease. The walk started at Pittsford High School. Participants strolled along the Erie Canal for the effort, which also emphasized the importance of prevention. "I probably had breast cancer for a few months before I actually knew," admitted Jessica Locey, a breast cancer survivor. "Just continuing to get scanned, and do your mammograms routinely, yearly." The event was organized by the group "Embrace Your Sisters," an organization that helps women and families struggling financially in the face of medical debt from treatment. "I hope that I can just build a stronger community and know that these women who have survived are supported and those who are still fighting are supported," said Lillian Dinning, a volunteer. "Embrace your Sisters" serves 13 counties across New York State.
