SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Although summer officially ended last week, temperatures in the Bay Area don't exactly suggest it is the fall season. The region is set to face another heat wave as residents in the inland cities could experience temperatures as high as 105 degrees, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). NWS issued a Heat Advisory for the beginning of the week for most of the Bay Area, the weather agency announced Sunday on X. The advisory is issued from Monday at 11 a.m. until Wednesday at 11 p.m. Coastal high temperatures, which include San Francisco, could reach 93 degrees, according to NWS. Temperatures are expected to peak on Tuesday. The heat wave has prompted PG&E to announce possible power shutoffs in four Bay Area counties. Approximately 1,000 customers across Alameda, Contra Costa, Napa and Sonoma counties could experience those power shutoffs. The potential shutoffs are expected to last until Tuesday. (NWS via BCN) A Spare the Air Alert for smog has been issued for Monday, Sept. 30, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD) announced in a news release. The alerts are issued when "ozone pollution is forecast to reach unhealthy levels." The high inland temperatures "will create elevated concentrations of ozone or smog," officials said.
