(SOUTHERN COLORADO) — September is just about to wrap up and so far it has been extremely warm. The last 31 days have largely featured temperatures well above average for this time of year. Data from September (and the last few days of August) show that only six days observed temperatures below normal. One of the most significant cool downs happend on Friday, Sept. 27 where temperatures were over 20 degrees below normal. The other 25 days were on the warm side with the warmest day 17 degrees above normal. The heat will continue for the last day of September, with previous records in jepordy. Specifically, Colorado Springs, Pueblo, and Alamosa have a chance to break their record. Colorado Springs' previous record is 87 which was set back in 2019. The region will be awfully close to breaking that ahead of an advancing cold front. Pueblo and Alamosa will also be within just one or two degrees of breaking their records. High temperatures elsewhere will also be on the very warm side. The Eastern Plains may even get close to seeing triple digits!
