(KRON) – The Mayor of Vallejo weighed in on another Saturday night of brazen Vallejo sideshows.   A few sideshows occurred at multiple intersections: Lemon Street and Sonoma Boulevard, Lewis Brown Drive and B.W. Williams, Columbus Parkway and Springs Road, according to the video captured at the scene (above). The intersection of Lemon Street and Sonoma Boulevard may be considered a hot spot for sideshows. More than 200 cars participated in a sideshow at the intersection in June.  The usual sideshow behavior was on full display -- circular driving with passengers hanging out of the car with the crowds cheering the car on with the random fireworks. Many of the sideshow drivers were masked.   At one point, more than a dozen spectators gathered in the center. According to the footage, one of the spectators’ pants caught on fire after being swiped by a sedan. The sideshow watcher crawled to the crowd and was patted down to stop the fire from progressing.  A red Mustang and a grey sedan crashed. According to the video, a yellow Mustang lost control of the car and almost side-swiped multiple people. The masked driver backed up the Mustang and then accelerated forward, hitting at least two spectators. The two-door car had four occupants. KRON4 asked Vallejo Mayor Robert H. McConnell for a statement regarding the recent sideshows. The mayor wrote, “The public works and city manager are trying to increase resistant barricades. It would be good to maximize penalties to the EXTREME!” McConnell continued, “It would also be great for these criminals, and that is what they are, to even to realize the harm, and that is what they directly inflict and damage people they don’t care about. Clearly selfish.  Why don’t these brats do this where their momma lives.” KRON4 has reached out to the Vallejo Police Department for information regarding arrests and further details about the sideshows. We are waiting to hear back.
