Rougarou Fest to return to Houma for 2024

HOUMA, La. (WGNO) — Rougarou Fest is returning to Houma for another year of fun and Cajun folklore this October.
According to a news release, guests can head to Houma Civic Center on Oct. 18, 19 and 20 for three days of music, food and culture.
Festival organizers said attendees can expect a nutria pardoning, costume contests, a wolf howling contest, a Krewe Ga Rou parade and two new additions, including a Rougacon and a Rougarou Trail.

Explore Houma officials said RougaCon will take place inside the Civic Center on Saturday, Oct. 19, and offer a pop culture convention experience with vendors selling collectibles.
They said the Rougarou trail will offer festivalgoers "a delicious journey through Houma's local eateries" with local vendors offering Rougarou-inspired food and drinks, including Gris-Gris Shrimp Boulette from Cajun Cookin' and a Rouga-Rita from La Carreta.

Additionally, festivalgoers can also grab a bite from local vendors serving Cajun cuisine, including gumbo, boudin and more.
Organizers said attendees can expect a variety of live music performances from local bands.
