As the remnants of Helene continue circling through the Ohio Valley, Central Indiana received some light rain on Sunday. While it will not amount to much, this still needed rain due to most of September 2024 having no rain. There's one more slight rain chance to open the work week Monday before we see improvements around here. Monday calls for more overcast to mostly cloudy skies. A little sun may appear in the afternoon. Highs will be a touch warmer than Sunday. Numbers will approach the mid-70s, around or just above normal for this time of the year. Isolated to scattered showers will develop in the afternoon for several hometowns. Like Sunday's rain, any amount will be very light. Coverage will be limited to 20-30% in the afternoon. This will be the last of Helene before she exits! Monday Morning Futurecast Monday Afternoon Futurecast This will be the last chance for rain to come for some time. A flattening jet stream will keep our region quiet for October's opening days. We won't only be quiet, but we'll also have abundant sunshine thanks to high-pressure setting up camp. Very little rain is forecast for the opening days of October. Remember, we are still in one of the drier periods of the year! Temperature Departure From Normal 10-Day Rainfall Potential Sunshine dominates along with mild to warm temperatures. The only exception will be Wednesday. A cold front will pass through Central Indiana late Tuesday and drop our temperatures. Lows Tuesday will get will into the 40s and highs Wednesday will struggle to hit 70°. The front will be a dry one with no rain expected. After that, we'll rebound again into the upper 70s with highs hitting 80° not out of the question.
