CAYCE, SC (WOLO ) — Residents of Riverland Park neighborhood in Cayce are being asked to evacuate due to rising flood waters.
“Voluntary evacuations are the only way we can keep you safe,” says Mayor Elise Partin in a video posted to City of Cayce’s Facebook page.
The mayor says she and her team are going door to door to notify residents.
Water levels are rising quickly and are expected to be above 2015 flood levels in the coming hours of Sunday.
They are expected to rise several feet after that. The boat landing and Riverwalk are already underwater.
The City is working with local churches for those who need a place to stay.
Residents can call the City of Cayce dispatch at 803-794-0456.
“Please don’t wait until the last minute to evacuate. We will post regular updates on our social media posts,” says Partin.
She also says City of Cayce water is safe to drink — the water treatment plant is self contained and not at risk due to rising river levels.
