BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Baton Rouge Police is investigating a reported deadly shooting on the highway on Sunday morning. According to the police, detectives responded to a shooting on I-10W around 3 a.m. Detectives learned an SUV was headed west when shots were fired from a fleeing vehicle. The SUV crashed into a truck traveling in the same direction and flipped on its side after hitting the side wall. The driver of the SUV, who was later identified as 22-year-old Erik Dorsey, was pronounced dead at the scene due to a gunshot wound. Police say multiple vehicle occupants and victims from both vehicles were taken to a local hospital for crash-related injuries. The motive and suspect(s) are unknown at this time. This is an ongoing investigation.
