(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Saturday, Sept. 28, was World Heart Day, and Mended Little Hearts of Colorado invited the community to a fun day at the park. The event featured a therapy dog, chair massages, bounce houses, Josh & John’s Ice Cream, and more. This year, organizers emphasized the importance of a heart action plan to prevent cardiovascular heart disease (CHD) and protect communities from the world's leading cause of death. About 40,000 new families are impacted by CHD each year. Mended Little Hearts provides hope and support, raising awareness and serving as a strong voice for CHD families everywhere. "Congenital heart defects are the number one birth defect for children," said Morgan Hybert, Outreach Coordinator at Mended Little Hearts of Colorado. "One in 110 are affected. And so we're recognizing and celebrating all of those kids and families today."
