WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) -- Wichita Police are investigating a fatal crash on Kellogg early Saturday morning. It happened shortly after 2 a.m. in the westbound lanes of Kellogg near the Woodlawn exit in east Wichita. Public Information Officer Andrew Ford says witnesses reported that a motorcyclist was speeding and slammed into the back of a pickup truck in the center lane. The rider was thrown from the bike. Ford says he was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS shortly before 2:30 a.m. The red pickup truck did not stop and left the scene. Anyone with information about the crash can contact investigators at 316-268-4407 or Crime Stoppers at 267-2111 or through the P3Tips app. Wichita has seen multiple accidents over the past two months where one of the drivers has left the crime scene. On Thursday, Christopher Johnson, 23, was formally charged in the August 18 hit-and-run death of Tad Doyle. He has a first appearance hearing scheduled tentatively for Oct. 24 on a charge of Failure to stop at accident; Reasonably known to result in death. On the same day of Doyle’s death, a 20-year-old woman was seriously hurt when she was struck by a vehicle in south Wichita while riding a bike. That driver also fled the scene. Less than a month later, on Sept. 12, another bicyclist was struck and killed by the driver of a pickup that fled the scene in south Wichita.
