Blue skies have returned after a deluge of rainfall from former Hurricane Helene assaulted the western Carolinas. Unfortunately, another round of rain arrives as we close out the weekend. The good news is that it will be nowhere near as much as we saw earlier this week. Mostly cloudy skies and isolated showers will roll through the WCCB Charlotte viewing area throughout our Sunday. While totals won’t amount to much, any additional rainfall in the mountains could quickly exacerbate flooding issues. Clearing arrives overnight as a ridge of high pressure pushes the moisture northeastward. Mostly sunny skies return by Monday afternoon as highs hold steady in the upper 70s and lower 80s across the Piedmont and Foothills. Temperatures will be manageable, but humidity levels remain high through the first half of the workweek. A dry cold front will brings us some much-needed relief by Wednesday evening; while temperatures won’t budge much, much drier air settles into our area by the end of the week. Tonight: Mostly cloudy. Mild. Low: 68°. Wind: S 5-10. Sunday: Mostly cloudy with a few showers. High: 80°. Wind: SW 5-10. Sunday Night: Cloudy with a few showers early, then clearing. Low: 66°. Wind: SW 5-10. Monday: Variable clouds early, then mostly sunny. High: 82°. Wind: SW 5-10.
