ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Post-Tropical Cyclone Helene still remains in the middle of the southeast, bringing rain there. Helene still remains quite large, with its outer bands expected to reach us here in Western New York today. For today, you can expect a mixture of sun and clouds with a chance of a scattered shower or two during the afternoon hours. Temperatures are expected to climb into the low to mid 70s. We will stay mostly cloudy for the overnight hours, only allowing for temperatures to drop into the mid 60s. Let's get lost this weekend! There will be a few scattered showers around both Saturday and Sunday, but don't let it stop you from enjoying the last weekend in September. pic.twitter.com/tgstToFYbl— James Gilbert (@JamesGilbertWX) September 27, 2024 Sunday will feature much of the same that we will experience today, except clouds will dominate our skies for tomorrow. Scattered will be likely throughout the day as temperatures rise into the low 70s. When it is not raining, you can expect a cloudy sky with very little to no sun. Clouds will continue their dominance into the overnight hours, only allowing for temperatures to drop into the low to mid 60s. Our work week will start off dry. For Monday, cloudy skies will remain dominant. Temperatures will be climbing into the low 70s. Although we stay mostly cloudy throughout the day, we are expected to stay dry. However, that will not be the case moving forward. A cold front is expected to pass through the area sometime on Tuesday, bringing us rain chances. For now, it seems as though the front will move through the area later in the day and throughout the overnight hours. High temperatures are expected to climb into the low to mid 70s. If you plan on heading outside to rake up some of the leaves that have already fallen, this weekend may not be the best time. Scattered showers are expected for both days. Monday looks to be the best of the 3 days. pic.twitter.com/ovcD11ugug— Leanne Byer (@LeanneByerwx1) September 28, 2024 Rain is expected to linger into the first part of Wednesday. Due to the front that is expected to pass through late Tuesday into early Wednesday, high temperatures will take a hit. They are only expected to climb into mid to upper 60s. Rain chances will subside for the last days of the work week. The sunshine will return to our skies for Thursday and Friday. Temperatures will stay in the upper 60s for Thursday and will climb back into the low 70s for Friday. 8-Day Forecast It seems as though rain chances start working their way back into the forecast for next weekend. While it's still too early to know the specifics, let's worry about getting through this weekend and work week before worrying about next weekend!
