Football Friday Night: Denham Springs High beats East Ascension High with last second field goal
Sep 28, 2024
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — East Ascension High School first-year head coach Brock Matherne was looking for the first district win with the Spartans.
Denham Springs High entered the game with a lot of momentum after a come-from-behind win against Woodlawn last week. The game was tied 10-10 in the third quarter. Denham Springs changed that with a long pass from quarterback Jerry Horne to Colton LeBouf. A few plays later, Horne connected with Ty'lan Haynes for the touchdown.
The Spartans would tie the game 17-17 with a Lathan Dumas touchdown.
In the final minute, Denham Springs drove down the field and kicked a last-second field goal to win 20-17, improving the Yellowjackets' record to 3-1.
