The Pulpo Beer Company has announced its last day of business at its Willoughby brewery will be on Sept. 29. “On behalf of our staff and families, we want to thank you for the amazing support you’ve given us these past four years,” reads a Pulpo Beer Company Facebook post. “This decision was not easy to make. Many of you have become family and fans of our beer, and concept. We simply cannot thank you all enough for the memories you’ve helped us build and that you have allowed us to be part of this wonderful community.” According to Pulpo, rising costs were a factor in the decision to close the location at 3941 Erie St. Amid being closed for repairs due to a water line bursting earlier this year, the beer company was in the process of rebranding Hola Tacos and Barroco. Over the summer, the company opened the Kraken Room on the second floor rooftop area. The cocktail bar will also be permanently closed. It was 13 years ago when Paola Valbuena’s brother started Barroco in Lakewood, which had a main focus on bringing Colombian food to the community. In 2019, Hola Tacos was created and inspired by food from the streets of Mexico City. In 2020, the family found the Erie Street location, which was once a brewery that was no longer operating at the time. “We would like to invite you all to come support our staff this week and have one last beer with us,” the Facebook post reads. “Those of you who have purchased gift cards may still use the taproom in Crocker Park.”
