RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Governor Glenn Youngkin has ordered all United States and Virginia flags to be flown at half-staff on Saturday, Sept. 28.
According to the Governor's Office, the flag order is in memory and respect of Private First Class Morris Everett Canady who died on Sept. 24, 1942 in Guadalcanal while serving in the U.S. Marines, and who will be put to rest in his hometown of Bedford County after 82 years.
All Virginia and U.S. flags outside of state and local buildings across Virginia will be lowered at sunrise on Saturday and remain at half-staff until sunset.
