NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — We will continue to watch the Caribbean and the Gulf through the first week or two of October. The NHC is once again highlighting these areas with a 30% chance of tropical development over the next 7 days. At this point it doesn't look like we see anything develop through at least early next week. Beyond that, indications are another tropical system could be in the Gulf as we approach next weekend. We are still in the MJO cycle of added lift in the atmosphere that allows development to occur more easily. As we know the water is very warm in this region and conditions could be favorable for development again. Beyond just watching and waiting there is not a lot known at this point. There is no way to tell what may form or where it may go. Everybody along the northern Gulf should be watching this through the week. As always stay prepared and stay with WGNO for the latest this hurricane season.
