Minot State to host Rural Veteran Suicide Prevention Summit

BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — Minot State University is partnering with Together With Veterans (TWV) to bring a Rural Veteran Suicide Prevention Summit to the college.
TWV is an organization that aims to partner with rural veterans and their communities, so they can implement community-based suicide prevention programs and strategies.
The summit, which is called "Issues and Initiatives for Rural Veteran Access to Mental Wellness, Care, and Support,” will feature multiple speakers and vendors, and will include talk about military culture, adverse childhood experiences and military service, and other mental health-related topics.
Salute to Veterans
The keynote speaker will be Vernon "Longhorn" Davis, a U.S. Army veteran, public speaker, and comedian. Lots of other veterans will speak at the event, as will Minot Mayor Tom Ross.
The summit will take place Monday, Sept. 30 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Ann Nicole Nelson Hall. It is free and open to the public, and you can register when you arrive.
