BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — The North Dakota Ethics Commission has appointed its new commissioner, who will begin his term on October 1st. They have selected Murray Sagsveen, a military veteran and government official who has served the public for nearly 50 years. Sagsveen's experience spans from being the Legislative Assistant to Governor Arthur Link and Director of Legal Services for the State Water Commission, to serving in the Republic of Korea and joining the North Dakota National Guard. Wachter’s Bergrud Named 2025 ND Teacher of the Year He has also served on nonprofit governing boards for almost 40 years. The ethics commission's role is to ensure the transparency of the North Dakota government to increase people's confidence and trust in it. Commissioners are appointed by a consensus agreement by the governor and the majority and minority leaders of the senate. They serve for four years. Sagsveen will start his term October 1st.
