ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — It's an exciting week for Rochester Regional Health, celebrating their advanced practice practitioners, also known as APPs. They hosted a conference with speakers across different healthcare fields Friday, to discuss and celebrate the impact that advanced practice practitioners have on the community. The group's supervisor says the level of healthcare provided today is thanks to the team efforts between advanced practice practitioners and physicians. "It is very important to recognize the role of Advanced Practice providers," RRH Vice President of APP Selma Mujezinovic said. "There is no segment of the health care industry that advanced practice providers don't deliver the care. We work in a team-based model with our physicians and provide care to the community in an acute care setting and ambulatory setting in hospitals, emergency rooms, operating room, delivery rooms. So, we are essential to deliver medical care in health systems." Even as people enter the advanced practice field and attempt to fill the gap, Mujezinovic says there will always be a shortage considering the number of patients versus the number of folks going into the medical field.
