ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Albuquerque Police Department arrested a man wanted for the murder of a woman on Aug. 29. Police said Houston Coate, 33, was arrested on Thursday after attempting to flee on foot. He is charged with an open count of murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, shooting at an occupied dwelling, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Police said Coate had knocked on the apartment door wanting to retrieve items left inside an apartment. After a brief conversation with a few people inside, he fired several shots into the apartment, killing Chavez, officials said.
