An attack left a 27-year-old man dead in the Santa Ana River bottom in Jurupa Valley. Jose Guadalupe Diaz of Riverside was discovered dead along the dry riverbed, in the area of Clay Street and General Road, shortly after 8 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. The authorities did not disclose the specific cause of death, or the approximate amount of time the victim’s body was there before it was discovered. “There have been no arrests … as investigators are still working to identify the suspect or suspects involved,” Sgt. Rafael Victorio said. The river bottom is replete with homeless encampments, but it was unclear whether Victorio was staying in one. Sheriff’s investigators asked anyone with information relevant to the investigation to call them at 951-204-6600.
